Christmas and New Year 2011 Message

As 25th December approaches once again, and preparations are on for the celebration of Christmas, it is good to ask ourselves what exactly we are going to celebrate once again. Is it the event of Jesus’ birth? The precise day of his birth cannot certainly be the reason for this annual celebration because that day has never been established till today, and no one really has been interested in establishing it. Then what are we heading to? We are headed on to celebrate not the event of Jesus’ birth, but the continuation of his nativity deep within the mystery of our lives today!

For such a mystery-filled celebration of Christmas, it is a call to each of us to offer God the opportunity to bring forth Christ’s birth, through the hidden depths of gifting ourselves to Him and to the world. Each Christmas, God’s Spirit asks for more than a mere recollection of his historical birth as we gather for the celebration.

He challenges us to recognize our sacred potential of being Christ’s continuing ‘incarnation’ wherever we are living, among our neighbors, among our brothers and sisters! I wish you all such a MYSTERY-FILLED CHRISTMAS and a bright New Year 2011.
