BICS InfoTech with its core competencies in education and Information Technology services has evolved a model for Knowledge Resource Centre in Arivagam. It comprises Print and Digital Libraries, Learning Resource Centre, Corporate Training Centre, Knowledge Bank and Virtual Museum. It provides single platform to consolidate and access all knowledge resources within BIIT, BOSCO ITS and of stakeholders. Arivagam facilitates a learning environment and opportunity for all, be it students, corporate professionals or industrialists to equip one’s knowledge and skills in information technology application, quality management, human resource management and/or NGO management.
Print Library
Arivagam facilitates the print library with its own library management process which includes planning of acquisitions, classification of acquired materials and preservation of materials, patron borrowing of materials, developing and administering library computer systems. Arivagam-Library is powered by B-LIS – the library solution developed and implemented by BOSCO ITS.
Digital Library
Digital Library is a collection of documents in electronic form, available on the Internet or Intranet. Using DSpace, (an open source tool from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA) digital library provides a process by which resources can be reviewed and included as part of the collection by approved subject-matter experts.
Learning Resource Centre
It offers variety of services to support faculty teaching and student learning. All knowledge components regarding teaching, learning, evaluation, students’ contributions, research and development is made available as a single repository at Learning Resource Centre. From this single source, courseware is prepared for students in variety of delivery modes (print, online, CD-ROM and so on). At its core, an automated production system manages the entire content with integrated document management, workflow and content editing environment.
Corporate Training Centre
Arivagam conducts training programmes for corporate and industries on technology innovation, quality and human resource management.
Knowledge Bank
Arivagam captures and maintains in Knowledge Bank, the tacit (or implicit) knowledge of software development and the application domains (i.e. Software Engineering, Web Portal Development, Health Care Information System, Education Technology Services, NGO Management) through various projects of BOSCO ITS. It offers research results, domain-specific solution inferences and presentation of case studies.
Virtual Museum
Virtual Museum is a collection of digitally recorded images, sound files, text documents, and other data of historical, scientific, or cultural interest that are accessed through electronic media. Arivagam offers the resources to establish Virtual Museums of the History of Don Bosco Centre and its Founder (Fr Francis Guezou SDB), of Science and Technology and of Biblical Themes.
